In Block 2 (starting on 9 May) our Fringe Festival Performance Course begins. Enrolments are open now, and deposits are being taken to secure your place in this exciting course.

The Melbourne Fringe Theatre Performance Course

Do you want to play a role in a season of shows in The Melbourne Fringe Theatre?

This course runs over two blocks (Blocks 2 and 3) and consists of a series of weekly 2.5-hour sessions on Tuesdays at Clifton Hill.

Melbourne Fringe Festival

During these sessions, you will learn intensive acting techniques and delve deeply into the processes used by professional actors when rehearsing a piece of theatre. As an example, the Stanislavsky (also known as the “method”) will be applied to the practice sessions for the pieces that you will be performing, along with other techniques brought in by specific specialist teachers.

The piece of theatre will be partly scripted and partly devised, with the teacher always guiding you through the process. The theme that the performance will focus on is titled Extremities.

You will learn to create a series of vivid and powerful scenes in which people are experiencing life and relationships from an extreme point of view. This is very powerful for theatre, performance and technique classes.

This program is open to people who are considering acting as a profession, as well as to others who are curious about what it is that professional actors do in rehearsal and script processes.

Many of the students from this school who went on to become professional actors were first seen in showcases such as these. See Students of note.
