BLOCK 4, 2017

Block 4 of the Professional Actor Training Course offers two options:

Block 4: Film and TV Acting/Showreel Making Class

This is a weekly course – offered in Block 4, 2017 – where you will learn the skills of film and TV acting. Each student will be given a scene and a monologue to work on through the course, and have the opportunity to watch his/her work on camera and receive constructive feedback throughout the weeks. There will also be the opportunity to meet with industry professionals (casting consultants and/or agents) who will visit later in the course to give feedback to participants and answer questions about the industry.

You will be guaranteed of very thorough training in the techniques of acting for camera. For those who are interested (and this is not compulsory), there is the option of having your scene and monologue turned into a professional showreel for promotional purposes. We have a connection with a professional film editor who will do this for you at a very reasonable extra cost of around $250 plus gst. For a small extra charge, he will turn this showreel into an MP3 format which can be uploaded to the internet. You will then have your own link on the net to this showreel. You can then use it when approaching prospective agents and / casting consultants regarding professional work. Alternatively, it can be used when seeking roles in student films etc… to gain more experience.

The course is ideal for aspiring actors, however we also welcome those who are interested to learn more about the skills of Film and TV without necessarily wishing to become actors. The benefits of this course for aspiring actors need hardly be stressed. However, the course is invaluable for anyone who wants to learn more about how they come across to others. It is also suitable for those who simply wish to know more about the techniques of Film and TV acting and who are curious about the way the industry operates.

To view the past Film and TV success stories of students who began at our school, see our Students of Note page.

This course will also include a four-hour workshop (as part of the long day on 16 December) with Alison Telford – one of Australia’s leading casting directors. To read more about Alison’s background, visit the Alison Telford Casting website.
